The Lacoste contingent lost three of its members on Monday. Facing the twenty-fifth seed, Italy's Francesca Schiavone, Emilie Loit lost in straight sets (6-3, 7-6). Arnaud Clément felt against Germany's Rainer Schuettler (6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4) while Mathieu Montcourt, a wild-card holder, lost to the fourteenth seed, Russia's Mikhail Youzhny, (6-0, 6-2, 7-6).
