THEO CURIN IN LONDON

Theo Curin visited London! To celebrate the launch of Lacoste’s first-ever collection conceived by handiport athlete Theo Curin, we hosted an intimate meet and greet in our Knightsbridge store.

Attendees including fashion press, stylists, activists and clients, sat down to listen to Theo’s achievements and his inspiration behind the collection. Ryan Zaman, UK model and disability advocate, interviewed Theo on his latest athletic triumphs. This included his impressive 11-day challenge where Theo swam the longest crossing of Lake Titicaca in South America (the first person on record to ever do so).

Behind the inspiration

Working closely with our Creative Director Louise Trotter, Theo designed a five-piece, unisex apparel capsule for both able and disabled bodies. As he talked through his process behind the collection, guests listened to each design element inspired by his extraordinary life. From incorporating motivational slogans such as ‘follow your dreams’ to more technical features like magnetic buttons for ease of dressing, the collection focuses on accessibility without compromising style.

“The fact that a brand like Lacoste asked me to set up a collaboration like this shows that things are still evolving in the right direction. What I liked is that I was involved in every step of the design: choice of products, colours, adaptations etc. and also that it is a universal collection. I’m very proud of that.” - Théo Curin.
